Seven personal digital stories of migration, courage, connection and belonging, told by migrant women from across the Sunshine Coast.
First public screening 18 September 2026 Library+ Caloundra Free admission
The Sunshine Coast Migrant Digital Storytelling Project was created by Faval Copedo, a CAMS worker at Nambour Community Centre, to provide migrants from across the Sunshine Coast with an opportunity to share their personal stories and experiences. Over six weeks, participants learned how to create and develop a digital story, exploring the basics of storytelling and discovering how to create stories that are interesting, engaging and meaningful. The project also encouraged participants to share their stories and experiences with one another, creating a supportive space for connection and understanding.
The project collaborated with Anna Kolodnaya from BVCampus, a local videographer who documented the making of the project and led workshops covering practical and technical aspects of putting a digital story together, including timing, music and other important production techniques. Ten migrant women from ten different countries participated in the workshops, with seven completed digital stories now available to watch. These stories are incredibly important because they give us a personal insight into what it can feel like to arrive in and build a life in a country very different from the one you have come from.

The first public screening of our Digital Storytelling Project films will take place at Library+ Caloundra, a Sunshine Coast Council community facility, as part of Welcome Week 2026: “Belonging is Everyone’s Business.” Library+ Caloundra is a major Council community hub that brings together the public library, Council customer services, community spaces and Council administration offices.
The official screening will be held on 18 September 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, in the library’s tiered screening space. Free admission.
We warmly invite the Sunshine Coast community to come along, watch these personal digital stories and celebrate migration, diversity, connection and belonging. The event is also an opportunity to learn more about digital storytelling and consider taking part in similar community projects in the future.
